About Africa Community Foundations Alliance

The Africa Community Foundations Alliance (ACFA) is a pan-African network that brings together Community Foundations and Community Foundation Support Organisations (CFSOs) to advance locally-led philanthropy and durable community development across Africa.

What is a Community Foundation?

A Community Foundation is a place-based philanthropic institution that:

Mobilises and stewards resources from multiple donors (local and external)

Is anchored in local governance and community participation

Invests in long-term solutions shaped by community priorities

Works through grantmaking, convening, and strengthening local organisations
